TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT AND
SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT THROUGH PROJECTS THAT
ASSIST YOUTH IN PERSONAL ADVANCEMENT!

The Aftershock 21st Century Community Learning Center after-school program, is designed to support each student's academic, behavioral, emotion, and social growth. The program serves students from the Switzerland County Middle School as well as 5th and 6th grade students from Jefferson-Craig Elementary and East Enterprise Elementary Schools. There is NO FEE for participation.  The after-school program is a collaborative effort with several outside agencies.

Academic Development
All students will participate in educational activities in which they will have the opportunity to receive extra help and to complete homework assignments. Literacy and math activities are a main component of the program. Performance measures have been put into place and ongoing evaluation will assist in the continuing development of the program to help students of all levels reach their maximum potential.

Enrichment Clubs
Students will participate in enrichment activities through a variety of clubs, possibly including (but not limited to) are, culinary arts, computer technology, newsletter, environmental science, forensic science, home economics, musical drama, physical fitness/exercise, photography, scrap-booking, videography, rocketry and robotics. All clubs will be engaging and will be tied to academic standards that are being taught in the classroom. Club listings are updated every session in response to students interests and feedback.

Character Education
All students will participate in a variety of character education activities. Some of these activities include: Character Counts education, Life Skills training, and YMCA Leaders Club. There will also have a focus on service learning providing all participating youth with volunteer opportunities.

Family Programing
Family involvement is very important to the success of all students and will impact their academic achievement and positive behavior. The following events are provided in order to encourage the full participation of all families:
  • 21st CCLC Open House
  • Strengthening Families Workshops
  • Family Fun Nights
  • Adult Education
  • Parent Communications

Monday - Thursday
(during the school year)
     3:00 - 5:30
2:50 - 3:30 Attendance, check homework, and snack at the Middle School
(Middle school and Jeff Craig Students)
3:30 - 3:40 Transportation to the Y for Middle School and Jeff Craig students provided by Aftershock
3:40 - 4:30 Homework, activity for those whose homework is complete.
(East Enterprise Students will arrive at the Y at 3:30 with snack provided)
4:00 - 4:30 Aftershock will pick up remaining students that are in a school activity or finishing homework in Mr. Jessop's room.
4:30 - 5:20 Exciting and fun project based learning activities at the Y
5:20 - 5:25 Prepare students to depart from the Y
5:30 Bus transportation, parent pick up and walkers will depart from the Y

Located at the Switzerland Co. Middle School
 and the Switzerland County YMCA

Bus transports students to one of the three designated locations

Completed registration form must submitted to the Y or Switzerland County Schools prior to students participation
